Toronto police have arrested a 32-year-old man after finding child pornography in his computer.

Kyle Olson admitted to possessing 1,350 images and 1,100 videos of child abuse.

This was the 49th child porn arrest in Toronto in the past three years, when more than 550 people were arrested.

Police officials say the spike in child porn arrests is because of the internet.

Investigators arrested Olson following a search warrant at his home in Toronto’s west end.

Arrests are only carried out after the seizure of computer evidence.

The accused says he has struggled with addiction to children for 10 years, according to a police statement.

“He says it is because of sexually abusive behaviour at the hands of his father, with his stepfather, and with his other family members,” it said.
