A full list of Atlantic hurricanes for the 2023 season

This post is from the 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and its (National) Weather Service forecasters. Their main message: The upcoming hurricane season will be a busy one with the Atlantic basin averaging 15 named storms, 9 hurricanes and 4 major hurricanes. The impacts will mainly be felt in the United States.

Meanwhile, here are some of the already released 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecasts from the National Hurricane Center:

2017

Watchers:

41 named storms (19 of which were hurricanes and 7 of which were major hurricanes),

11 hurricanes,

3 major hurricanes

One of the most active Atlantic hurricane seasons on record

2016

Watchers:

27 named storms (14 of which were hurricanes and 4 of which were major hurricanes),

10 hurricanes,

2 major hurricanes

Record rainfall of historic proportions was experienced in the Caribbean

2015

Watchers:

24 named storms (10 of which were hurricanes and 5 of which were major hurricanes),

8 hurricanes,

1 major hurricane

The third storm of 2015 season left 13 people dead in Mexico,

The second storm of 2015 season struck and damaged numerous homes in Central America.

2014

Watchers:

29 named storms (17 of which were hurricanes and 7 of which were major hurricanes),

8 hurricanes,

1 major hurricane

Beirut experiences its most active Atlantic hurricane season since 1991.

2013

Watchers:

36 named storms (20 of which were hurricanes and 11 of which were major hurricanes),

10 hurricanes,

2 major hurricanes

Record to-date hurricane season, impacted South Florida and Bahamas, southern Atlantic and Gulf Coasts and Florida Keys.

2012

Watchers:

21 named storms (9 of which were hurricanes and 9 of which were major hurricanes),

8 hurricanes,

1 major hurricane
